Mental disorders are widespread, yet access to psychotherapy is limited by cost, location, and stigma. While face-to-face therapy offers rich interaction, digital mental health services, both synchronous (video/phone) and asynchronous (apps, AI tools), expand accessibility and flexibility. Evidence shows they can effectively reduce symptoms of common disorders and complement traditional care, though severe cases still require in-person treatment. Digital modalities offer a scalable way to enhance the reach and inclusivity of mental health care.
